ReTina Broussard is a native of Houston, Texas and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lamar University and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from the department of Counseling Education at Prairie View A&M University. ReTina has over 25 years’ combined experience in business management, research and investigation, event planning and management, television and radio production, public relations, marketing and workshop development and facilitation. She is a former producer of “Good Morning Southeast Texas,” and former host of "Southeast Texas Weekly for KBMT-TV 12 in Beaumont, Texas. ReTina has also worked as a freelance producer and talent on television and documentary projects.

Before pursuing her passion for radio and television, ReTina had a successful career as a Claims Investigator with State Farm Insurance Company. After leaving State Farm, she attended graduate school. While in school, she started a home-based business and became one of the first minority women in the industry of professional organizing, which is also considered an aspect of life coaching. For several years, ReTina built a promising business in the industry and it grew from a one woman business to a team of organizers. Before coaching became popular and recognized by the American Counseling Association, ReTina introduced the University to the practice of organizing and coaching as a viable profession for counseling graduates. Later, she turned her home organizing business into a small business and workplace efficiency consulting firm, all culminating into life coaching, human resource development and workshop facilitation.

In the education arena, ReTina is credited for creating the innovative Collegiate Development Model, for an Independent School in Maryland, which is currently used today to prepare middle school and high school students for a successful college experience.

She was later recruited by the District of Columbia as a Training and Development Specialist for the Department of Human Resources and quickly became a popular instructor. She was also given the honor of planning and managing a very successful conference for the department, facilitated the new employee orientation for all district employees and designed and facilitated several original courses in addition to creating the department’s first career development program.

Over the years of building a versatile career, she never let go of her love for the television, entertainment and arts professions. ReTina rediscovered her passion to pursue her dreams and created her first radio show on the world’s largest internet radio platform, featuring shows with topics, guests and music that celebrated, educated and inspired the world community. She quickly became one of the top hosts on the platform, named Featured Host by the network, garnering seven honors and capturing over seventy thousand listeners from all over the world.

ReTina’s journey includes numerous ongoing volunteer and community service projects for several organizations and she’s served on many advisory boards and committees. She’s currently a freelance writer/journalist, and dedicated to building the ReIgnite A LifeTM Foundation.

Deanna F. Weber

DEANNA F. WEBER,DMA
Director, Arts And Program Development

Deanna Weber holds the DMA in Music Education from Boston University. Dr. Weber also holds the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Stetson University in Deland, FL, and the Master of Education Degree in Music Education from Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. She has been a member of the music faculty at Albany State University in Albany, GA since 2001. Prior to coming to ASU, Dr. Weber served on the faculties of Darton College in Albany, GA, Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA and the School of Performing Arts in Dothan, AL.

An accomplished mezzo-soprano, Dr. Weber has performed numerous roles in opera, oratorio, and music theatre, and has appeared in recital throughout the region. She has directed productions ranging in style from opera to jazz for various college and community organizations. Dr. Weber currently teaches music theory, applied voice, and music education at Albany State University. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of singing, and has had numerous student winners in both the State and Regional Auditions. Her other memberships include the Music Educators’ National Conference, the Georgia Music Educators’ Association and the College Music Society.

JIMMIE A. LUTHULI

Originally from Houston, Texas, Luthuli participated in Houston Stonewall Young Democrats and volunteered her time phone banking and canvassing for social justice in Texas. Jimmie worked for the Texas Legislature as both a Policy Analyst for the House Research Organization and the Chief of Staff for State Representative Dora Olivo. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Black Studies from Pomona College in Claremont, California and a Master of Public Affairs degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.

Following her move to the nation’s capital after working her third session in the Texas Legislature, Luthuli immediately became active in the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, DC’s oldest and largest LGBT political organization, and the Women’s Information Network (WIN), an organization for pro-choice Democratic women. Jimmie Luthuli served two elected terms on the board of the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club and organized two DC Statehood and Abortion Access advocacy forums through WIN. She is currently on the board of the Wanda Alston Foundation, which provides housing and programming for LGBTQ homeless youth.

Luthuli is a public policy professional with several years of experience in the field. Ms. Luthuli's background includes public policy research and analysis, political campaigns, PAC management, international trade advocacy, legislative assistance to elected officials at the state and federal levels, non-profit management, endorsement forums, assistance to lobbyists and progressive issue advocacy. She has excellent qualitative and quantitative social science research skills and advanced Spanish language proficiency. Luthuli studied abroad in Cuba and Nicaragua.

FIONA M. SHANKS

FIONA M. SHANKS
Treasurer & Director, Fundraising And Global Development

Ms. Fiona M. Shanks was born in Malaysia, whose father was an Officer in the Royal British Army and whose mother is of Indonesian, Egyptian and Chinese descent.

Ms. Shanks worked extensively in the International Logistics industry since 1989 and has worked for highly reputable companies such as Hyundai, Hapag-Lloyd, Mitsui-Soko America, Maersk Logistics and Agility Logistics. She has traveled extensively throughout the world and speaks, reads and writes English, Malaysian and Indonesian. Her international experience also brings a deep understanding of Western, Asian and Middle Eastern cultures.

Working with Agility Logistics in Traffic Management, Ms. Shanks managed the USAID account and developed all USAID logistical requirements. She ensured that all U.S. Government cargo was moved in compliance with all Regulations set by the U.S. Government. Ms. Shanks verified that all requirements were met by third world country officials prior to any USAID shipment. She was responsible for monitoring ocean rates and routing for USAID, in addition for being responsible for USAID P/L; and administrated all purchase orders issued to USAI D. Ms. Shanks was instrumental in conflict resolution on behalf of USAI D.

With Maersk Logistics, Ms. Shanks managed all Western regional accounts as well as the management of the Logistics Department and Ocean & Air Operations. She developed sales and marketing strategies in support of sales expansion in her territory. Ms. Shanks analyzed and managed migration and implementation of all new account's performance and efficiency. She provided operational and management assistance to global sales and warehouse distribution. She trained personnel in the resolution and problem solving of logistical issues during the transition of newly acquired accounts into Maersk.

Ms. Shanks managed the entire cycle of all shipments from ports of departure to ports of destination. She was responsible for inside sales to win new customers and increase business revenues. Ms. Shanks developed plans for budgets, scheduling, negotiations and final execution of shipments. She supervised the import and export.
